April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. She is among the few female beach volleyball players to be able to do so. Alix klineman, who is competing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics and will attempt to win her third medal. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. In fact, at 39, this could be her last chance to achieve it. Nevertheless she is confident that top honors are firmly within reach. Ross was born in the city of Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents and sister resided in the area. Her athletic career continued at Newport Harbor High School where she played in a variety of sports. In addition to indoor volleyball, she ran track and basketball in her pre-college days. In the last sport she was clearly the standout. Her college biography states that she was an outside hitter middle blocker and setter during her volleyball career at high school. To honor her achievements, she received the Gatorade Award for National Player 1999. In addition, she was awarded the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman began their partnership in 2017, but Ross had been a beach-scene celebrity for a long time prior to. In fact, she won numerous major events with two different partners, one of which is the volleyball legend. In the period 2007 until 2013, she was a team with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Together, Kessy Ross was an ace on the international circuit winning the world championship in 2009. The duo won silver at London's Olympic Games. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the trio to beat for the gold. It was fate that had them. Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross participated in the Trojans at USC during her the college years following her graduation from the high school she attended. The time she spent at USC was quite impressive. As a freshman in 2000 she earned Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year accolades. She also earned an All-American. She also helped the Trojans reach their first Final Four. In her sophomore year, she suffered a tremendous personal setback but managed to repeat as an All-American. In her last two years, she took the Trojans up to the summit and took home consecutive national championships. She was a fantastic volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player at the college level. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the opportunity to see Ross' daughter blossom into the beach volleyball's biggest star. As of 2001, when Ross was a sophomore in USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. As a result, Ross remains near to her mother who passed away. Margie, on the beach as well as in her everyday life, continues to inspire her.
