Lucy-Liu
Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American actor, voice actress as well as a director producer and singer. A beautiful and smart actress she serves as an example to many Asian actors looking to make it big in Hollywood. The actress gained notoriety after a number of popular early roles in series. The most notable was the Ally McBeal series, where she portrayed Ling Woo the villainous character. Her sudden fame translated into film roles such as Shanghai Noon or Charlie's Angels. In the following film, she delivered an outstanding performance as Japanese crime lord O-Ren Ishii in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. About the same time she appeared in major roles in other box-office failures including Rise: Blood Hunter. She then began to voice characters from animated films like Kung Fu Panda or Tinker Bell. Small screen roles such as Mia Mason in Cashmere Mafia didn't yield any results. Southland's highly acclaimed police show, Southland and a recurring role helped Liu re-establish her as an actress. Liu chooses her roles with care so as to avoid being cast in an industry that is competitive. Liu has embraced her Chinese background, but doesn't let it affect her art.
